Mathematics
The PVHS Mathematics Department provides a strong and broad curriculum that includes:
- Algebra A and Algebra B
- Geometry
- Algebra II
- Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus
- Honors Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus
- AP/IB Calculus
- AP Statistics
All students are required to earn 20 math credits and pass the CA High School Exit Exam to graduate from high school. For students who plan to attend a Community College, California State University, or University of California, additional classes are required and/or recommended. The PVHS math department is committed to helping students succeed at all levels. Teachers offer extra help and support for their students before school, during lunch, and after school.
Our Needs
We have identified the following needs for our math department that cannot be covered by our current budget allocation:
- LCD projectors with ceiling mounts
- Smartboards
- Graphing calculators (TI-83+ or TI-84)
- AAA batteries for graphing calculators
- White board markers
- Small whiteboards for students to use at desk
- Whiteboard (for one of our math classrooms)
- Scientific calculators (TI-30XA)
- Transparencies for copy machine
- Graph paper
- Wireless mouse and keyboards
- Computer software for Statistics
- Examgen computer software for Calculus
- IB test and worksheet generator for Trig/Pre-Calc and Calculus
- Electronic notebook
- Overhead projector
- Overhead cart
- Overhead pens
- Kleenex
- Paper towels
- Chart paper with the grid printed on it
- Copy/Riso machine
- Ink & paper for copy/riso machine
- Student class set of laptops
- Math computer lab
