Annual Viking Pride Night
Three years ago, supporters of Pleasant Valley High School formed a Foundation to raise money to invest in important but under funded academic, athletic, and extracurricular activities. In 2009, the Foundation held its first annual Viking Pride Night fundraiser, raised more than $25,000, and recognized two outstanding alumni, the Honorable Kristin Lucena and Newton Bracewell co-owner Ric Newton.
Through that event and other activities, the Foundation raised enough money to grant $10,000 to academic and athletic programs and begin building an endowment that will provide funding to various programs far out into the future.
On October 16, 2010 the Foundation held its second annual Viking Pride Night fundraiser and we are pleased to report that through ticket sales, a silent and live auction and a raffle, supporters of PV donated more than $25,000 for the second straight year in a row. The Foundation was also proud to recognize three outstanding alumni for their achievements at PV and for their extraordinary community service – Jane Dolan, and Mark and Jolene Francis.
On behalf of the Foundation Board, we want to extend a special thanks to the hundreds of businesses and individuals in our community who donated items for the silent and live auctions. We also want to express our warmest thanks to our Board members, parent volunteers and to the teachers and administrators at PV who donated their time and energy to make this event a success.
